Re: 1987 Buick Grand National hardtop

It sucks that the car is a fake!! Looking at the pics, I keep thinking that it's amazing that someone would go through all of the effort to make a GN out of a normal Regal. All of the parts seem to be there. Perhaps there was a totaled out GN that was a good donor car??? The question I have is what...

Re: Chevy vs Ford truck ad

We will see. A LOT of cars made in the last 15-20 years have aluminum hoods, Audi made many many A8s which are a completely aluminum body (ALL of them, going back to 1998-ish), GM has been doing aluminum subframes on W-bodes for 15-odd years now with no corrosion problems. Aluminum knuckles and cont...

Re: New Brake Lines

I'm still of the mindset of cutting the old line out and duplicating it on the floor.

The copper coat line is no good for this because it bends TOO easily. Pick it up and it sags under its own weight.

I love the plastic coated stuff, though. Bends easily without kinking and it can hold a shape.

Re: Wanted: Shop space rent/share in Cleveland area

Nothing fancy at all, really... just a 2 wide by 2 deep garage with some 110v outlets. No lifts, no running water. At current, I have two VW Quantums that need to turn into one 400hp Quantum, an RX-7 that breaks many drivetrain parts that I need to finish the new Ford 9" for (5.43 gears! Detroi...

Re: want to buy buick gm parts

Your best bet for the bumper fills is fiberglass aftermarket. The plastic ones are extremely fragile after thirty years, and any used ones are either going to be sagged or will fail shortly anyway. One of my customers towed his car back to PA after we did an engine/XFI combo with it and somewhere al...

I think I worked on about a third of those GNs. And for some reason no 1986s or hot air cars!

I like the turbines and rally wheels that came stock but I am seriously SERIOUSLY digging those NASCAR looking wheels.

Re: Cheap Bastage is at it again - welding brake lines!

I made a PCV adaptor for a Subaru 2.5 turbo engine out of a piece of tubing I cut from the fender/cowl brace from a '67 Fairlane... it was a disturbingly perfect fit into the bizarre internal-diameter O-ring PCV valve that Subaru used on the STi. "I cut out the middle of my subframe, then splic...

Hit a 13.63 at 103 last night at Norwalk, err Summit. With a huge bog off the line (2 second 60'!), in the '84 RX-7 on crispy dried out old all-seasons.

Can't wait for 42 to open up again. Summit takes FOREVER to process the staging lanes.

Re: What cars interest you?

They're all pretty sweet. Where I work we see a lot of various classics and street rods. So it's like I don't even need to own one, because I get to wrench on other peoples' cars. I have a fondness for owning European cars (have had several 80s VWs, currently have two Quantums and a Rabbit GTI. And ...

Now with video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NSxGz7Dcp2o Believe it or not, I packed more stuff in there since that picture was taken. Besides the methanol injection, I had to add a water/air intercooler setup, which required deleting the belt driven fan and going to an electric one, which introd...

Re: That moment when...

Yes, that is exactly what it is.

Somewhere under the forest of plumbing is an LQ9 with a happy cam. Starting it for the first time with the supercharger was like that scene in the police garage in Mad Max.
