Oh Boy! This thing is turning out to be a work of art! No, I guess that would be a work of Fred. Anyway it sure looks great. I can't wait to see it in person. Eight more weeks....

Today (Friday 2/17) I worked to plug up holes in the engine. The first was the oil pressure line for the new gauges I bought. Ebay supplied both oil pressure and volt gauges. They are Stewart Warners that I thought would somewhat match the period of this truck. http://www.tiresmoke.org/walt/gauges00...

:D
The throttle linkage is finished. I used the mechanism from the old 360, cut it, and welded it back together and now it looks like a Lenco hooked up to the Holley.

Longer pushrods can increase valve lift

Hey guys, I saw this little article in December's HotRod Mag and found it quite interesting. I guess many of you know this already, but I didn't. "setting the valvetrain up with correct geometery yields the most lift. But because about 80 percent of nonprofessionally assembled engines have a pu...

Sure will! Yesterday, I cleaned up the stud holes and put in new studs. The tapered mounting point where the flanged pipe mates with the manifold was somewhat irregular and pitted with corrosion. It looked like it might leak, so I used my Dremel and a file and cleaned it up before assembling the exh...

Paul,
If you want to send me the original picture file, I'll mess with it and send it back.

The UPS guy just delivered my new exhaust manifolds. Take a look at the exit hole size of the new manifold (black) vs the old (silver). Now I realize that it ain't headers, but I got to believe it will help the ol' 466 breathe better.

OK, now I have to relate this one... My wife, Randi, likes to name her cars. A few years ago we bought Randi a black '93 Eagle Vision TSI. One day while I had the hood up, the motor running and Randi looking over my shoulder, I casually observed that it sounded like a Singer sewing machine. To which...

The clutch setup appears to be working! My brother, Ed, visiting from Pittsburgh helped me to verify the operation. While he operated the clutch pedal, I watched underneath and the arm to the throwout bearing moves with the first movements of the pedal. Hooray! I was fooled by the non-linear pedal p...

What Fred is talking about is this >>>> http://www.tiresmoke.org/walt/newmotor.jpg Nellie Belle's new (to her) motor, to which I will attach a brand new clutch before replacing her current mill. It all started as a clutch problem. Hmmm...I seem to be hip deep in hydraulic clutch problems these days....

I think I will tackle the throttle linkage next, Dave. It, too, needs to be engineered. I hope that once I'm past that, it should be smooth sailing. I'm shooting for Spring Carlisle for completion. Now that the weather is turning colder, I'm not too keen on spending time in the cold garage. I've los...

Nellie Belle

http://www.tiresmoke.org/walt/nb0.jpg I got Nellie Belle for $167 including tax, title, and tags. My time at Wheels4Hope is finally paying off (I think). Then I bought the wheels and tires for another $100 from Craigslist. So with other miscellaneous items, I figure I've got about $300 in her. The ...
