Re: Drag Week 2024
With todays pass of 10.06 @ 134 (!!!) , im now 31 for the 32 car bracket race on friday! We had a reallly good drive today and combined with the 10.06, made up for all the suck that happened Monday night with the axle failure, the terrible pass at Indy, the throttle cable, the radiator hose.. It was...

Drag Week 2024
We made it! Left the house a out 715 this morning, got to Scotts an hour later, a few minutes spent loading up some stuff and hit the road. Tech inspection was kinda laughable. Literally headlights, turn signals, tail/brake lights, (trailer and vehicle) and the horn. Dude kinda looked at my cage for...

20240911_191001.jpg 20240911_190922.jpg 20240911_170024.jpg I brought home the street tires for Drag Week. P235-75-R15 truck tires, mounted on 15x7 Aero Race wheels. They're slightly taller than the MT E/T Street R 275-60-15 drag radials. Wiper arms showed up today. However, I looked up the forecas...

Re: 1979 Malibu
Do I need to make some sort of adapter bracket to lower the height of the hitch ball, to level out the trailer tongue?

Trailer Setup
In preparation for Drag Week, I need a trailer to haul some tires, tools, and maybe some fuel. Big progress yesterday with the install of the trailer hitch. Paul found me this super vintage setup for $50 on ebay. 20240901_093452.jpg Speece brought me a piece of 1/2" (?)flat stock, and a custom ...

I'm in the 9s!!
Holy cow, I did it! I made 3 passes tonight, and only 1 was in the 10s. The other two were in the 9s!! And I drove it there and back. Soooo excited!
These pics were taken by Mike Trimboli on on the 9.96 pass, my first ever 9.

Re: 2024 Drag Racing Stuff
Feels like good turbo weather this morning! I'm planning on heading out with Maliboost tonight. Anyone else?

Re: Returning Smoker
I ran Gwen's '19 V6 Charger AWD once and I think it was in the low 15s. Not sure what the weight difference is between a Charger and Challenger, though.

Re: Porsche 944 Megasquirt conversion
So after a few failed attempts to get the car running well as Scott's house, he agreed to bring it up to Tiresmoke Central so that I could have more time with it. As things happen, he arrived about 30 minutes after the Tornado that came through and knocked out the power and internet for 6 days. Some...

Re: 1979 Malibu
Well, I found the electrical issue. 20240816_175013.jpg 20240818_204030.jpg A well placed zip-tie may have prevented that. I ran a new cable, added split-loom** around the positive cable and the alternator cable. 20240818_184816.jpg I changed where the fuel cell vent hose hooks up. 20240818_223623.j...

Re: 1979 Malibu
The Malibu made its street driven debut at Thompson on Wednesday. The good news is that is made it there and back without any real issues -- other than not being able to make a full pass due to an electrical issue. When I'd come off the line, on either the transbrake or footbrake, it would cut out e...

Re: 2024 Drag Racing Stuff
Maliboost made its first street-driven trip to/from Kuhnle! In that sense, it was a success. I had some electrical gremlin that prevented me from making a full, successful pass but I still went 122, 124, and 128MPH on my 3 passes. After the first 2, which were only in the 13s (but at 120+), Paul sta...
